Having a PTIN alone doesn’t require CPE credits. However, if you’re an Enrolled Agent (EA) or participate in the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP), you’ll need to complete specific CPE hours to maintain your status. Enrolled Agents need 72 hours of CPE credits every 3 years, with a minimum of 16 hours per year (2 hours must be on ethics). For the Annual Filing Season Program. Complete 18 hours of CPE, including tax law updates and ethics.
